If you're arriving at a time other than Sunday afternoon or evening,
you'll need to make your own way to the train station (la stazione)
named "Barga-Gallicano." Trains run frequently (every hour
or less) for the 40 minute trip to Barga-Gallicano from Lucca, which
is easily accessible by train from the rest of Italy. To get from Barga-Gallicano
to Il Ciocco, you'll need to go by taxi. If there is no taxi waiting
at the train station, you may need to ask in a nearby bar to find/order
one, or to make a phone call.
Example travel times (all via Lucca): Pisa to Barga-Gallicano = ~75
minutes, Rome to Barga-Gallicano = just over 4 hours (with fastest connections)
and costs ~50 euro first class. More information about train service
in Italy can be found here.
