The Climate Impacts Group Annual Fall Forecast Meetings

Every fall, the Climate Impacts Group at the University of Washington hosts workshops highlighting the seasonal climate forecast and water resource outlook for the Pacific Northwest for the upcoming water year.

The information presented at these meetings provides public and private resource managers the opportunity to consider how projected seasonal streamflow levels may affect operational decisions in the Pacific Northwest.

The meetings also provide the opportunity to learn about new water resource forecasting techniques and tools.

This year's Idaho meeting was in Boise on September 16, 2003. A second meeting focusing primarily on the Columbia River and urban water supplies was held on October 14, 2003 in Kelso, Washington. For more information on the Kelso meeting, click here.

The Climate Impact Group's Idaho fall forecast meeting focuses specifically on streamflow forecasts and research products relevant to the Snake River and Columbia River basins. The meeting included presentations from the University of Washington, the University of Idaho, and the Idaho Department of Water Resources.

The fall forecast meeting are open to anyone interested in attending. Past meeting participants have included

- federal, state, and local level water resource managers,
- public and private electric utility managers,
- consultants,
- public lands managers,
- agricultural specialists,
- non-profit organizations,
- tribal members and technical staff, and
- researchers.

The 2003 Idaho fall forecast meeting was held in Boise at the Idaho Department of Water Resources (1301 North Orchard Street).
